Gulf Air joins IATA CO2 Connect Platform at AGM in Rio

Dhaka: Gulf Air has taken part in the 82^nd International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting and World Air Transport Summit, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, bringing together senior leaders from across the global aviation industry.

The Bahrain-based carrier was represented by its Chief Executive Officer Martin Gauss, who joined discussions focused on the operational and strategic challenges facing airlines in an evolving global market. The AGM serves as one of the industry’s key forums for shaping future aviation policy and collaboration.

On the sidelines of the event, Gulf Air also confirmed its participation in IATA’s CO2 Connect platform, an initiative designed to improve the accuracy of airline emissions calculations using real operational data such as fuel burn, load factors, and cargo weight.

By joining the platform, Gulf Air will contribute data to help refine passenger carbon emissions estimates, supporting greater transparency for travelers and industry stakeholders. The airline said, the move aligns with broader efforts to improve sustainability reporting and environmental accountability within aviation.

The 2026 IATA AGM gathered airline executives, regulators, and industry partners to discuss major issues affecting global air transport, including sustainability, operational efficiency, and market conditions.
