Singapore Airlines restores daily A380 service to Auckland

Dhaka: Singapore Airlines will return the Airbus A380 to its Auckland–Singapore route this winter, marking a key expansion of its superjumbo operations in the Australasia region.

From October 25, the airline will operate a daily A380 service between Singapore Changi and Auckland, replacing the originally planned Boeing 777-300ER. The change adds over 200 seats per flight in each direction and significantly boosts premium cabin capacity on the route.

The A380 will operate flights SQ285 and SQ286, forming part of a wider winter schedule that includes around nine daily A380 services across Singapore Airlines’ global network. Australasia remains a key focus, with Sydney and Melbourne also seeing regular A380 deployments.

The airline, which operates a fleet of 12 A380s, is strategically reallocating aircraft across its network. While Auckland and other Australasian cities see increased A380 presence, planned services to Dubai have been removed, with capacity shifted to higher-demand routes.

Singapore Airlines continues to expand its overall winter schedule, even as some European routes, including Frankfurt, see changes in aircraft type. The adjustments reflect the airline’s focus on deploying its largest aircraft on long-haul, high-demand routes where premium travel demand remains strong.
